Cannabis associations in Madrid
Madrid has cannabis associations, but reliable data on them is harder to come by than in Barcelona or the Basque Country. Here is how they work, what the law says, and what the official registry can and cannot tell you.
What the law says
No national law regulates cannabis social clubs. They are private, non-profit associations of adult members in a tolerated grey zone: sale remains a crime, and consuming in public is an offence under Ley Orgánica 4/2015. Unlike Catalonia or the Basque Country, the Madrid region has no tolerance practice of its own.
Why the registry says so little
Madrid's association registry publishes a name, a registration number and an address, but no statutes — so an association can only be identified by its name, and one registered under a neutral name cannot be found at all.
How the Madrid list was built
A registered address is shown only when it marks a ground-floor premises; where it could be a private flat, it is withheld. That gives 18 entries, 8 of them on the map. Most carry no more than a name and a registration number, which is what the source supports.
